Watch Team USA vs Puerto Rico FIBA Exhibition Game Live Stream

Team USA will take on Puerto Rico in a FIBA World Cup exhibition game on Friday, August 22. Tip-off at Madison Square Garden is scheduled to be at 7 p.m. EDT, but games have been starting about 15 minutes later. The game will be broadcast on ESPN 2. Live streaming will be available via Watch ESPN. Team USA is coming off a pair of wins in its start of exhibition play–winning 95-78 in its first game, then 105-62 against the Dominican Republic on Wednesday. Derrick Rose is the biggest question mark headed into Friday’s game.

The Chicago Bulls guard started against Brazil but then missed several days of practice and was kept out of the Dominican Republic game. Rose, if he can stay healthy, is expected to be in the starting lineup at the World Cup alongside Stephen Curry, James Harden, Kenneth Faried, and Anthony Davis. Those five are slated to start against Puerto Rico. Kyrie Irving has emerged as a sixth man of sorts, filling in at starter with Rose out. It’s looking increasingly like Irving, Rudy Gay, and Klay Thompson can be counted as locks along with the five starters.

The other four spots appear to be up for grabs, with especially intense competition among the big men. Out of the five left–Davis, Faried, Andre Drummond, DeMarcus Cousins, and Mason Plumlee–it’s entirely possible that only one gets cut. The team’s final roster of 12 players–there’s currently 16–must be submitted to FIBA by August 29, the day before the World Cup starts.

Here’s the U.S. roster. Guards Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors) Derrick Rose (Chicago Bulls) James Harden (Houston Rockets) Klay Thompson (Golden State Warriors) Damian Lillard (Portland Trailblazers) Kyrie Irving (Cleveland Cavaliers) DeMar DeRozan (Toronto Raptors) Forwards Gordon Hayward (Utah Jazz) Kyle Korver (Atlanta Hawks) Chandler Parsons (Dallas Mavericks) Kenneth Faried (Denver Nuggets) Rudy Gay (Sacramento Kings Centers Anthony Davis (New Orleans Pelicans) DeMarcus Cousins (Sacramento Kings) Andre Drummond (Detroit Pistons) Mason Plumlee (Brooklyn Nets) After the Puerto Rico game, the United States has one more exhibition, against Slovenia in Spain on August 26, before starting World Cup play against Finland on Saturday, August 30. The United States is in Group C along with Finland, the Dominican Republic, New Zealand, Turkey, and Ukraine. If it doesn’t win the World Cup, then it will have to participate in the 2015 qualifying for the 2016 Olympics. Team USA will then paly Turkey on August 31 before playing New Zealand on September 2, the Dominican Republic on September 3, and Ukraine on September 4. The top four teams in each group then advance to the next round, kicking off the knockout phase of the tournament, which will continue through the Gold Medal Game on September 14.
